「班描」（写真）など素晴らしい日本画を描いた竹内栖鳳の特別展が山種美術館で開催されているので見に行ってきた。竹内栖鳳は明治中期から昭和初期にかけて約60年にわたり活躍した日本画家である。今回の特別展は竹内栖鳳没後８０年ということで竹内栖鳳自身の作品３７点の他、栖鳳の弟子等の栖鳳をめぐる人々の作品６３点が展示された。竹内栖鳳が動物を描けばその体臭までも表すといわれるが、彼の動物の絵「班描」「鴨雛」「海幸」等からは体臭が感じられるようだし、声も聞こえるようである。また、「飛瀑」からは滝が落下する音が聞こえるようであった。今回は展示品のこれまでの見方を変えたので、これまで見えなかったものが見えるようになり、聞こえなかったものが聞こえるようになったのだと思う。合気道の技づかいと同じように、体の表からの陽の気で観たのである。専門家の目もこの目だろう。また、宮本武蔵も審美眼であったが、これもこの体の表からの陽の気の目であったと思う。今回の竹内栖鳳展は目で楽しみ、臭いで楽しみ、音で楽しんだ、素晴らしい展覧会だった。
Seiho Takeuchi Exhibition
I went to the Yamatane Museum of Art to see a special exhibition by Seiho Takeuchi, who painted wonderful Japanese paintings such as "Hanbyo" (pictured). Seiho Takeuchi is a Japanese-style painter who was active for about 60 years from the middle of the Meiji era to the early Showa era. This special exhibition marks the 80th anniversary of Takeuchi Seiho's death, and in addition to his 37 works by Takeuchi Seiho himself, 63 works by his disciples and other people related to him were exhibited. It is said that when Seiho Takeuchi draws an animal, he can also express the body odor of the animal, and it seems that one can feel the body odor and hear the voices of his animal paintings, such as "Hanbyo," "Kamohina," and "Umisachi." Also, it seemed that the sound of falling waterfall could be heard from "Hibaku".
