１０年ぶりの再会 Reunion after 10 years

久々にドイツから来日した友人と再会した。ほぼ１０年ぶりである。彼はMr.ペッヒといい、以前私が働いていたドイツ産業見本市日本代表部の本部のお偉方である。仕事の関係で、ドイツでお世話になったり、日本では一緒に記者会見や企業訪問をした。彼もちょっと前に退職したとのこと。まだ、年金を貰える年にはなっていないが、コロナのために見本市が上手くいっていないので退職したという。今回来日したのは東京で開催される空手の選手権大会のためである。ドイツの選手団のコーチとしてきたのである。彼は、我々が知り合う前から空手を稽古していたので、合気道をやっていた私とはよく分かり合えた。夕方、東中野駅で私の上司だったドイツ人の友達とも待ち合わせて、そこから近い串焼き屋でお互いの近況やドイツの景気や昔の仕事仲間等の話をした。（写真）楽しいひと時が楽しめた。

   

Reunion after 10 years

I met up with a friend who came to Japan from Germany after a long time. It's been almost 10 years. His name is Mr. Pech, and he is a high-ranking official at the headquarters of the Japanese representative office at the German Industrial Trade Fair, where I previously worked.

Due to his work, I was indebted to him in Germany, and in Japan we held a press conference together and visited companies. He also retired a while ago. Although he is not yet old enough to receive a pension, he retired because the trade fair was not going well due to the coronavirus. He came to Japan this time for the Karate Championships to be held in Tokyo. He was the coach of the German team.

He had been practicing karate before we met. Because of this, he and I, who practice Aikido, were able to understand.

In the evening, we met up with another German friend at Higashi-Nakano Station, and the three of us went to a skewered restaurant nearby, where we talked about each other's current situation, the German economy, and old work colleagues. We had a great time. (Photo)

昭和レトロ感満の食堂 A small restaurant full of Showa retro feeling

月に二度ほど日帰りで温泉に行く。西武秩父駅前温泉祭の湯である。所要時間は２時間ほどで、乗り換えは２回でいい。お湯に入る前に近くにある秩父神社にお参りする。名工・左甚五郎作の「子育ての虎」、「つなぎの龍」をはじめとする絢爛豪華な彫刻によって飾られている神社である。今回は神社の参道にレトロな食堂を見つけたので入ってみた。昭和にタイムスリップしたような外観で、店名はこの外観とは似合わない「パリー」と外壁に張り付けられている（写真）。後でネットで調べてみると、建物は昭和2年の建築で、文化庁の登録有形文化財に指定されているという。メニューは、洋食、中華、丼物、麵類とバラエティー豊富で、名物はオムレツだとある。名物がオムレツとは知らなかったのでかつ丼を食べたが、確かに昭和レトロノの味であり、美味しかった。しかし、この次秩父に行った時はこのレトロ食堂「パリー」でオムレツを食べることにする。

A small restaurant full of Showa retro feeling

I go to the hot springs twice a month for a day trip. It is Seibu Chichibu station square hot spring "Matsuri no Yu". It takes about 2 hours and you only have to change trains twice. Before entering the hot water, visit the nearby Chichibu Shrine. The shrine is adorned with gorgeous carvings such as the "Child-raising Tiger" and "Tsunagi-no-Dragon" by master craftsman Hidari Jingoro. This time, I found a retro small restaurant on the approach to the shrine, so I went in. The exterior looks like a time slip to the Showa era, and the name of the store, "Paris," is attached to the outer wall (photo). When I looked it up later on the internet, I learned that the building was built in 1927 and has been designated as a registered tangible cultural property by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. The menu has a wide variety of Western food, Chinese food, rice bowls, and noodles, and the specialty is the omelet. I didn't know that omelets were the specialty, so I ate katsudon, but it certainly had the taste of Showa Retrono and was delicious. However, when I go to Chichibu next time, I will eat an omelet at this retro restaurant "Paris".

全日本少年少女合気道錬成大会 All Japan Boys and Girls Aikido Training Tournament

はじめて全日本少年少女合気道錬成大会を見に行ってきた。招待状を頂いたので行ったが、正面の席に案内されたので面食らった。しかし少年少女達は自分の演武に集中していて、正面席を見ることもなく、眼を合わせることもなく、心配していた緊張もなかった。当大会には約１５０の団体と１５００名が参加し大盛況であった。沢山の元気をもらった。明日からもっと稽古を頑張らなければならないと思った。一人でも多くがこの後も引き続き合気道を続けてくれるように願って会場を後にした。

All Japan Boys and Girls Aikido Training Tournament

I went to see the All Japan Boys and Girls Aikido Training Tournament for the first time.

I went because I received an invitation, but I was taken aback because I was guided to the front seat. But the boys and girls were so focused on their performance that they didn't look at the front seats, didn't make eye contact, and didn't have the nervousness I was worried about. About 150 organizations and 1,500 people participated in this tournament, and it was a great success. I got a lot of energy. I thought I had to practice harder from tomorrow. I left the venue hoping that as many people as possible would continue to practice Aikido. 

菖蒲園 Iris garden

梅雨に入ると菖蒲である。家の近くの菖蒲園で「東村山菖蒲まつり」を開催しているので見に行った。人混みを避け、ゆっくり菖蒲を鑑賞したいので夕方にした。

主催者によると、約600種類8千株10万本の花菖蒲が開花しますとあるが、それほど多くなかった。菖蒲の見どころは花の姿だけでなく、名前である。江戸時代から鑑賞されてきたというから奥が深い。例えば、花車、蛍舟、赤蜻蛉など。菖蒲を見るもう一つの楽しみは、亡くなった女房のイメージに合う花を探すことである。残念ながら今回は見当たらなかった。次回に期待する。

Iris garden

In the rainy season, it is irises. I went to see the "Higashimurayama Iris Festival" held at the iris garden near my house. I wanted to avoid the crowds and take my time to appreciate the irises, so I went in the evening.

According to the organizer, about 600 kinds of 8,000 plants and 100,000 Japanese irises will bloom, but there weren't many.

第６０回全日本合気道演武大会 The 60th All Japan Aikido Demonstration

全日本合気道演武大会を参観してきた。同大会は毎年開催されるが、コロナのため通常開催されたのは３年振りであった。そのせいか見に来た人も演武に出場する人も「やっと来たか」と嬉しさと喜びに満ち、会場はいい雰囲気だった。主催者の発表によると来場者（含む出場者）は８，０００人と大盛況であった。

演武は１２時半ごろから始まり、一部と２部に分かれていた。一部５２、二部５０の演武で構成された。演武は秒単位で変わっていくし、演武者も多いのでじっくり見させて貰う事はできなかったが、勉強になった。特に勉強になったのは、地方の師範演武であった。かっての先生方や先輩のように、強靭に鍛えた体で体をつかい、技をつかっていることである。入門した頃を彷彿させるものであり、もう一度この原典に戻らなければならないと思った次第である。

もう一つは、９３歳の多田宏先生の演武である。先生が年を取られたことによってどのような技をされるかである。演武の前の正座から立ち上がられる際、足が大分弱られていることが見えたが、いざ演武となるとそんな事とは関係なく、凄い気力、呼吸力が炸裂し、受けを縦横無尽に投げ飛ばしたのである。これまで拝見したうち最高の演武であったと思った。最高令になって最高の技。これが合気道であり、我々が求めているものだと改めて教えて頂いた。来年の先生の演武が更に楽しみになる。

The 60th All Japan Aikido Demonstration

I visited the All Japan Aikido Demonstration. The same demonstration is held every year, but it was the first time in three years that it was held normally due to Corona. Perhaps because of that, the people who came to see the performance and the people who participated in the demonstration were filled with happiness and joy, saying, "You finally came." According to the organizer's announcement, the number of visitors (including contestants) was 8,000 and it was a great success.

恒例の合気大祭に参拝してきた。多くの合気道関係者が参加して大盛況だった（写真）。しかし、古い、稽古仲間や知人の姿が徐々に減っているのが寂しい。二時間半にわたった大祭が無事終了後直会になり昼食をとった。直会の後、同行した稽古仲間が愛宕山に登りたいというので登ことにした。山には１０年近く登っていないし、体調にあまり自信がなかったが、何とかなるだろうと山に向かった。結構な道のりで予想していた数倍疲れた。最後の山頂までの急階段も何とかクリアできた。頂上の神社に参拝し、展望台でひと息ついて下山した。無事に下山出来た事の他、まだ山を登る事ができるという自信、体力と筋力がまだある事が分かった事が嬉しかった。この喜びに対して、駅前の喫茶店でコーヒとケーキで乾杯した。

Iwama Aiki Festival

I visited the annual Aiki Taisai. Many people involved in Aikido participated and it was a great success. However, it is sad that the number of old practice friends and acquaintances is gradually decreasing. After the two-and-a-half-hour long festival ended without incident, we had a ceremony (Naorai) and had lunch. After the Naorai, I climbed Mt. Atago with my Aiki friends.

花見

今年は温暖化のせいか桜の開花が例年より早い。数日前に東京の開花宣言があったので花見をしたいと思った。今日は晴天で花見日日和である。天気予報を見ると明日から天気が悪くなるようだし、雨も降るようである。満開ではないだろうから、一寸早いだろうがいく事にした。花を見る場所は以前に住んでいた東中野の神田川沿いである。電車一本で行けるので行きやすい。上野や九段下のように混雑しないのもいい。

まだほとんど咲いていないと思っていたが結構咲いていた。５分咲き、７分咲きであったがこれも趣があっていい。満開の桜もいいがこれもいいし、今日、来てよかった。

一年振りの桜に挨拶をし、また、来年までとお別れを言って来た。

Hanami

The cherry blossoms are blooming earlier than usual this year, probably because of global warming. A few days ago, there was a declaration of flowering in Tokyo, so I wanted to go see the cherry blossoms. Today is a fine day for cherry blossom viewing. Looking at the weather forecast, it seems that the weather will get worse from tomorrow, and it seems that it will rain. It might not be in full bloom, so I decided to go even though it might be a little early. The place to see flowers is along the Kanda River in Higashi Nakano, where I used to live. It's easy to get to because I can go by train. It's also nice that it's not as crowded as Ueno or Kudanshita.

I thought they weren't blooming yet, but they were blooming quite a lot. It bloomed for 5 minutes and bloomed for 7 minutes, but this is also nice. Cherry blossoms in full bloom are nice, but this one is nice too, so I'm glad I came today.

I said hello to Sakura for the first time in a year, and said goodbye until next year.
