友、遠方より来る Friend, come from distant place

友人夫婦がフランスから来た（写真）。夫婦ばらばらでは毎年来日しているのだが、夫婦そろって東京に来たのが珍しく、８年ぶりだという。彼らとは毎年フランスで会っているから懐かしいわけではない。今年も６月に行った。合気道の講習会の後、地中海沿岸の町コリウールで数日を過ごしてきたところである。
この夫婦とはミュヘン時代に知り合ったので、４０、５０年来の付き合いである。また、彼らは、私の帰国後日本に来て、７年間滞在し、生花、合気道、弓道を身につけ、今は夫婦でそれを生業にしている。つまり先生である。
郊外に広い庭つきの立派な木造の家を建て、子供を育て、今は二人の孫に恵まれている。
彼らも我々（妻と私）も食べる事が好きで、昔、一緒に東京で食べ歩きをしたし、終いにはフランスのリヨンにある有名なフランスレストラン「ピラミッド」まで食べに行った。
今回の二人の希望は天ぷらだったので、新宿にある「つな八」本店を予約した。時間にルーズなフランス人としては珍しく、約束の場所で落ち合い店に入った。
コースの前に、お刺身を沢山食べたので、コースの最後のかき揚げは、皆少し残してしまったが、みんなが楽しみにしていたアイスクリームの天ぷらを注文し食べきった。そして来年５月の再会を約束して別れた。楽しいひと時だった。
Friend, come from distant place
My friend's couple came from France (picture).　This couple visits Japan every year individually, but it is for couple to come to Tokyo together for the first time in 8 years. But I do not miss them because I meet them in France every year.　 I went in June this year.　 They like us (wife and myself) like to eat. Once in a while we had eaten together in Tokyo and finally went to a famous French restaurant "Pyramid" in Lyon, France.
Their hope this time was tempura, so I reserved "Tsuna hachi" in Shinjuku. We ate a lot of sashimi before the menu course, so all of the last kakiage of the course was left a little. But we ordered tempura of ice cream which everyone was looking forward to and finished eating. And we promised a reunion in France next May and said goodbye.

奥多摩温泉 Okutama Onsen

前から自分に合った温泉を見つけたいと思っている。日本には沢山の温泉があるし、私の住んでいる所の近くにもある。インターネットで調べれば、ある程度の想像がつくが、やはり実際に行ってみなければどんな温泉なのか、つまり温泉の質や規模、雰囲気、まわりの景色、駅からの距離などの利便性である。
今日は、久々にお日様も出て、いい天気になったので、急遽温泉に行こうと決めた。禊ぎの後朝食を取り、ネットでどの温泉に行くか調べた。行き先は、奥多摩温泉の「もえぎの湯」と決めた。一寸仕事をしてから１２時前に家を出る。西武新宿線、西武拝島線、青梅線と２時間ほどで奥多摩駅に着き、徒歩１０分で「もえぎの湯」に着いた。この温泉は内風呂と露天風呂（写真）、それに足湯がある。
この温泉の売りは、“日本列島最古の地層といわれる古生層から湧き出る温泉”である。泉質は肌にぬるぬるが残るような、肌に良さそうな温泉である。
この温泉には奥多摩を山歩きする登山者が帰りに寄るので、夕方に向かって込んで来た。山を登って、下りた後の温泉は気持ちがいいだろう。その上、二階には休憩所が完備しているので、更にくつろげる。私も、下に流れている多摩川で獲れたというヤマメの魚定食とジョッキで、お風呂に乾杯した。後は気持ちよく、そして無事に帰宅した。次の温泉が楽しみだ。
Okutama OnsenToday, sunny day came out for a while, weather became good, so I suddenly decided to go to a hot spring.
After breakfast I checked which onsen I go and decided that the destination is "Moegi no yu" of Okutama Onsen.
I stayed home before 12 o'clock.
Arrived at Okutama Station in about 2 hours with Seibu Shinjuku Line, Seibu Hajima Line, Ome Line. It reached "Moegi no yu" in 10 minutes on foot. This hot spring has an inner bath, an outdoor bath (photo) and foot bath. The sale of this hot spring is "a hot spring springing from an old pheasant layer that is said to be the oldest strata of the Japanese archipelago".Fountain quality is a hot spring that seems to be good for the skin, such that slimy skin remains on the skin. People can relax even more, as there are rest areas on the second floor. I also made a toast to the bath with a set meat of the Yamame which was caught in the Tamagawa River running downwards and a beer mug.

お茶をたてる A tea party

大分前からお茶会をやろうと、友人の中村さんと言っていたのだが、ようやくやった。家にはお茶の道具がある。女房が実家からもらったり、買ったりして揃えておいてくれたものである。それほど高価なモノはないが、お茶を知らない私には十分である。勿論、お茶など正式にたてられないが、只、楽しむことにしている。何回かやっているうちに様になってくるだろう。
久しぶりにお釜でお湯を沸かして、茶をたてた。お湯が沸く音がいい。中村さんが持参したお菓子で喫したお茶は美味しかった。細やかだが楽しいお茶会だった。今度は野外でお茶会をやろうということになった。また、楽しみが増えた。
A tea partyI had been saying to my friend Nakamura for a long time to have a tea party, but I finally did it. My house has tea tools. My wife got them from my parents house. There are not much expensive things, but enough for me who does not know tea good. Of course, I can not formally make tea etc., but I am going to enjoy it. It will be like something while doing it several times. I boiled the hot water in a boil after a long absence, and made tea. The sound of boiling water was nice. It was a small but fun tea party.
Next time it was decided to do a tea party in the open air.

岩風呂 IWABURO (Rock bath)

久しぶりに温泉に行って来た。いい温泉を探そうとしているが、まだ、見つけていない。只、インターネットでは幾つか見つけているので、近い内に行ってみようと思っている。
そういうことで、また、近くで便のいい、西武秩父駅に隣接する「祭の湯」に行った。お昼ちょっと過ぎに着いたが、風呂の前なので、しっかりした昼食は取りたくないから、たい焼きとソフトクリームで簡単に済ませた。勿論、お風呂の後は、しっかり食べ、十分飲んだ。
その食事処に接している「祭の湯」で入湯手続きをし、二階のふろ場に行く。
１０ほどの異なるお風呂がある。その内のお気に入りは、野天にある岩風呂である。何故かと云うと、源泉かけ流しであることは勿論の事、この源泉は第三紀層（2,300万年〜258万年前）の堆積物に染み込んだ水（バージン・ウォーター）が溜まり、それに山に染み込んだ水と混ざったものを汲み上げている温泉だからである。
この岩風呂に入りながら考えた。何故、人は温泉に入るのだろうか、好きなのだろうかと。家には風呂があり、毎日、気楽に入れるのに、わざわざ遠くまで温泉に入りに来て、そして喜んで帰っていくことである。
岩風呂で考えたその理由は、何千年前、何百年前のモノである温泉（バージン・ウォーター）に触れ、エネルギーを貰い、一体化する快感である。ずーっと昔の水と己とが結びつき、己をその当時の水のような純な気持ち、つまり、人も自然の一部であると感じることである。
このようなことを、人は無意識のうちに感じる故に、温泉に入りに来るのではないかと、岩風呂の中で考えた。

IWABURO (Rock bath)I visited “Matsuri-Onsen”(hot spring), which is convenient from my home.
There are about 10 different baths in this hot spring. My favorite is the rock bath in open air. As for why, this source is a hot spring pumping up water mixed with sediments of the Tertiary layer (23 million to 2.58 million years ago) (virgin water) and water mixed in the mountains.

二科展 NIKA(Biennial) Exhibition

友人から二科展の招待状をもらっていた。その友人の奥さんが二科展に絵を出すという。招待状は一か月前に貰っていたのだが、バタバタしていたので、中々行けずにぐずぐずしていて、今日、机の上にある招待状の会期の最終日が今日であるというので、飛び出して行った。
二科展ということもあって、和服で行った。羽織に白足袋、そしてパナマ帽といういでたちである。これが後で役立ったようである。
会場は、六本木にある国立新美術館である。会場入り口まで行くと、今日は最終日なので１時半までしか入場できないと、入場を断られてしまった。そこで係りの方に、友人がここに絵を展示し、見に来るようにいわれたので、友人にだけでも会えないか頼んだところ、責任者を呼んでくれた。そしてその責任者がご親切にも彼女のいる別の階の入り口まで案内してくれた。お陰でそこで彼女と会うことができ、彼女の絵も見る事ができた。（写真）
二時には退出しなければならなかったので、出口に向かう途中の絵をざっと見ただけだった。二科展は毎年、２回ほどあるというので、次回は時間をたっぷりとって見に来ようと思った。

NIKA(Biennial) ExhibitionI got invitations from my friend for a NIKA exhibition. The friend's wife presents a picture at the NIKA exhibition. I went there with my kimono. Haori with white socks and Panama hat.
The venue is the National Art Center in Roppongi. When I got to the entrance of the venue around 1:35, I was refused entry, because today is the last day and visiter can only enter until half past one. I explained to the person concerned there, that my friend is showing a picture here and told me to come to see. And then the person in charge kindly took me to the entrance of the floor where she was. Thanks to that, I was able to see her and see her painting. (Photo)

東京都美術館に「おべんとう展」を見に行く Go to the Tokyo Metropo

朝日新聞の朝刊を読んでいたら、今、上野の東京都美術館で「おべんとう展」が開催されていることを知った。イナターネットで確認すると、江戸や明治の弁当箱も展示されているというので、急遽見に行くことにした。
展示場はテーマごとに別れていたが、目的の弁当箱は最初の部屋に展示されていたので、ゆっくりと見た。（写真）２０．３０点の弁当箱が展示されていたが、大名や裕福な町人のものが多かったせいか、漆塗りや金箔の豪華なものが多く、隣の部屋の東南アジアの弁当箱が庶民のものだったせいか、非常に対称的だった。
日本の豪華な弁当箱で面白いと思ったのは、弁当箱にお酒の徳利のような器がついていることである。花見や紅葉狩りなどで、お酒を飲みながら弁当を味わい、踊ったり、歌たったりして楽しむ姿が傍に立ててあった屏風に描かれていた。弁当箱からも、昔の人たちは、生きる事を少しでも沢山楽しもうとしていたことが想像された。今日はいいモノを見せて貰った。
Go to the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum to see the "lunchtime exhibition"I was reading the morning newspaper of the Asahi Shimbun, and learned that the "Lunchtime exhibition" is now being held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno. When checking with the inertnet, I decided to go look for it suddenly because the lunch boxes of Edo and Meiji were also exhibited.
The exhibition hall was divided according to the theme, but the intended lunch box was exhibited in the first room, so I slowly saw it. (photo)
Even from the lunchbox, it was imagined that old people were trying to enjoy as much as possible about living. Today I got a good one.

友達の８０才誕生パーティに招かれて Invited by my friend’s 80th

以前の仕事で世話になった友人の８０才誕生パーティに招待されたので行って来た。私が５，６年前まで働いていたハノーバー見本市の本部で、各国の代表部を取りまとめ、世話してくれた女性（クリスタ・シュネル）が８０才になるので開いたパーテイである。ドイツ人は誕生日を大事にするようで、特に５０才、８０才の誕生日を重視するようである。
今年は６月にドイツ、ヨーロッパに来ているので、ちょっとおっくうだったが、彼女から来てくれるとうれしいと言われたので、世話になった彼女が喜んでくれるのならと参加した次第である。
パーティには和服で参加したので、彼女は予想外でちょっと驚いたが喜んでくれ、特に着物で来てくれたことに感謝された。
外国で着物を着たのは初めてだったが、なかなかよかったようで、多くの参加者と写真を一緒に撮った。
参加者には彼女の友人とわれわれ各国の代表部のOB（ドイツ、フランス、スイス、オーストリア、スペイン、ポーランド、アメリカ、そして日本）、また、彼女が名付け親になっている４人の子供家族などなど約１００人が参加し、盛大に行われた。６時に始まったパーティは翌朝の２時まで続いたが私は１１時で退散した。

Invited by my friend's 80th birthday party
I was invited to an 80th birthday party of my friend who took care of in my previous work and I went there.
This year I came already to Germany and Europe in June, so it was a little bit tough, but as I was told by her that she would be delighted to come, I decided to participate if she will be pleased. .
I participated in the party with Japanese clothes (photo), so she was surprised a bit, but she appreciated me and thanked me for coming in especially with kimono. I was the first time to wear kimono in a foreign country, but it seemed quite good, I was taken pictures together with many participants.
About 100 people participated in this party and it was held grandly.
The party started at 6 o'clock and continued until 2 o'clock in the next morning, but I went away at 11 o'clock.
